Case Summary:

This time we were given the opportunity to work with a molecular biologist from Bangladesh specializing in the synthesis, characterization, and expression of proteins and synthetic molecules. We submitted extensive documentation proving the high significance of his contributions to his field, including his 8 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as several conference papers and one patent - a body of work that had received 44 citations by the time we filed his case. The great majority of these citations are from independent researchers distributed worldwide, demonstrating the wide reliance upon and recognition of our client’s work in his field. An independent recommender affirmed the importance of his work: “[Client] has worked toward targeting specific receptors that only exist in abnormal/cancerous white blood cells, resulting in the identification of unique synthetic molecules that attach preferentially to white blood cells that possess antibodies found in strong concentrations in cancerous cells. This groundbreaking work has opened new avenues in cancer treatment, as these molecules present an opportunity to develop drug carriers that could transport cancer medications directly to cancerous cells without affecting normal cells.” We successfully demonstrated that our client’s continued employment in the field would benefit the people of the United States as a whole as well as his fellow researchers, and argued that he would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 7 months and 30 days.
